Regardless of what one might believe, it is possible to order Maß outside of Bavaria. I once drank a Maß here in Saarbrücken at a trendy little Loch-in-der-Wand called “Horst”. However, they refused to put any sort of Weizen in it and instead gave me a Maß full of Karlsberg Urpils. Let me repeat…a MAß full of URPILS. Now, being the relentless beer faggot that I am, my first instinct was to not drink it. But then again, I’m not that guy who turns down a liter of beer. All in all, I would equate the experience as being on the same level as riding a pack mule in a tuxedo – there are just some things that go against general decency, but I’d be a prude if I didn’t saddle up.

Regarding the surfers on a nice day, it doesn’t have to be a nice day. They are even there surfing on the coldest days of winter. I don’t know what is stranger. The fact that a few people think going surfing in a small channel underneath a major city street simply for the sake of gaining a large group of spectators (I’m pretty sure they aren’t making much money doing this, but you never know), or the fact that this is so routine there, and everyone knows about it, and the police don’t seem to bother them even though there are signs clearly posted all around that area, that going into the water is strictly forbidden. Anyway. Prost du Sack!

Oh, my dear, you weren’t the only one! Every trip to Plus, Aldi, Müller or Am Bischofskreuz Pizza meant I was able to see this fountain in all it’s glory. Such joy!
